मेरी बेटी के लिए
मेरी बेटी ,तेरी ओर देखती हूँ,
और स्वयं से पूछती हूँ —
क्यों आई तू मेरी ज़िंदगी में?
मुझे तो कोई कमी नहीं थी,
एक पत्नी, एक स्त्री के रूप में
मैं पूर्ण रूप से संतुष्ट थी, सम्पूर्ण थी।
प्रश्नों और अपवादों के साथ-साथ
तेरे चेहरे पर उभरता है
मेरे प्रति एक गहन विश्वास
कि मैं जानती हूं कि
तेरे लिए मुझे क्या करना है
पर, क्या मैं सचमुच तैयार हूँ?
तेरी रक्षक बनने को,
तेरी पहली शिक्षक बनने को?
कहीं भूल से तेरा प्राप्य तुझसे छीन लूँ
यही सोच, मेरे मन को
एक अनकही पीड़ा से जकड लेती है,
और इसी डर में पलते हैं मेरे सारे संशय।
तूने मुझे नहीं चुना
और न मैंने तुझे चुना
पर मैं कृतज्ञ हूँ कि तू मेरी है,
जो भी करना पड़े, मैं वादा करती हूँ
मैं करूँगी, मैं लड़ूँगी, मैं सीखूँगी,
तेरा प्यार मेरे लिए और मेरा प्यार तेरे प्रति
इतना विशाल है कि शब्द हार जाते हैं।
अब लगता है,
तेरे आने से पहले मैं अधूरी थी —
शायद इसीलिए तू आई
मेरी ज़िंदगी को पूरा करने।
To my daughter
I look at you my child and I ask myself
Why did you come into my life?
Did not have the need for anything else,
Was content as a woman, a wife.
Expectations and questions
I see in your face.
Deep trust, that I know what to do.
Can I really be ready to take the place
Of protector and teacher to you?
The thought of doing you any wrong,
depriving you of what could be,
Is squeezing my heart like a fist,so strong
and fosters the doubts in me.
You did not Chose me nor did I choose you,
But I am grateful, since you are my light.
Whatever it takes I promise to do.
For you I will learn, I will fight.
The love you give me and my love for you
is greater, than words can describe.
I was not complete before I had you
and that’s why you entered my life.
